Daniel P. Sissell is a U.S. Army Veteran who served on active duty from 2011 to 2014; his assignments include Fort Stewart, Georgia, and a tour in Afghanistan. After leaving the military as a Specialist with an Honorable Discharge, Daniel moved back to Ohio where he struggled to find employment and meet his financial obligations.

Daniel found assistance at his local OhioMeansJobs Center in Scioto County and after a barrier to employment was identified, Daniel was referred to the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist Jerry Angel. Jerry referred Daniel to the County Veterans Service Officer who was able to provide financial assistance for food, gas, and clothing. While this assistance satisfied some of Daniel's immediate needs, he was still concerned with his rent and child support payments. Jerry and Daniel quickly worked to make Daniel job ready. Once Daniel was job ready Jerry referred him to North American Refractories in South Shore, KY and subsequently an interview was arranged.

Daniel was offered a full time position earning $18 / hour with benefits starting after 30 days which he accepted. Daniel is grateful for the assistance and is now more than confident that he can meet his obligations, and sustain himself.
