Intensive Services: Sergeant Benjamin Morrison’s Story

SGT Benjamin Morrison was separated from the United States Army on October 25, 2014. During his time in the Army, SGT Morrison was a Health Care Specialist stationed with the MEDDAC unit at Ft. Stewart, Ga. Veteran Morrison received his global war on terrorism Iraq(2nd)service medal. SGT Morrison was referred to DVOP Hapner by the Fayette County Veterans Service Commission located in Washington Court House, Ohio. Veteran meets the criteria for Low-income, as defined by WIA at Sec. 101 (25) (B) which has been identified as his significant barrier to employment. Veteran Morrison was met by DVOP Jeffrey Hapner. DVOP Hapner performed an assessment with veteran Morrison.

We discussed the veteran’s situation and developed an employment plan. Veteran Morrison stated that he was married and does have children. Veteran stated that he was ready to go back to work in Security or in a local production facility. After discussing the services available through the OhioMeansJobs center, veteran Morrison decided to enter into Intensive services. DVOP provided veteran with numerous job openings in the local area.

After two (4) months of intensive services, veteran Morrison was hired at the Stark Truss Company located in Washington Court House, Ohio. He is currently working as a Laborer with the company and makes $13.00 per hour. Veteran is able to maintain his quality of life by obtaining employment. Veteran stated that he wants to attend a post-secondary school in the future.
